National Honor Society - Central Islip Chapter

The Central Islip Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) is Central Islip High School's premier organization established to recognize outstanding students. Induction for members is based on the areas of four criteria:
  1. Scholarship
  2. Leadership
  3. Service
  4. Character.

The Central Islip Chapter of the Honor Society participates in school events to best assist those in need, such as chaperoning for "Meet the Teacher Night", College Night, et al.  The society works to uphold a positive image of Central Islip High School.

Membership Requirements

This year, all members will be required to fulfill the following three:

1. Complete at least 10 hours of community service during the school year.  (Note: These community service hours may not be used for any other class, i.e. Participation in Government)

2. Participate in an Honor Society committee created to complete a specific goal (i.e. The Induction committee will solely function to assist in all things related to the Induction Ceremony).

3. Miss no more than 2 general meetings.

  • Replenish the treasury
  • Promote school service
